My Coachella Diary 🌵☀️🌻🌴

Hey Guy’s,

So, if you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you might have noticed I just went to weekend 2 of Coachella. This was my first time attending Coachella and I beyond enjoyed myself. I would definitely go again! My girlfriend Kenzie and I did so much the past weekend and it was absolutely a memorable trip. I swear, so many things weren’t going right the whole weekend..haha..but, that we didn’t let that get us down. Like missing our flight back or forgetting our tequila bottle at Wal-Mart and that’s only a couple things. But, I’m really glad my gf and I were always positive and looking at the bright side of things. I feel that’s important, especially when your traveling with a friend. She’s my travel buddy #4life!

Oh, I also wrote down some Coachella tips down below for any first timers that will attend next year’s event. ^_^

So, Kenzie and I left Thursday afternoon from San Francisco, CA. We rented a car and decided to do a little road trip on the way there. Initially, we wanted to stop by Sur in LA to eat/ drink because we are just a tad obsessed with Vanderpump Rules. Unfortunately, we didn’t because we were looking a hot mess and did not feel like getting that readyyy. So, until next time Sur! But, we ended stopping at a mall in Glendale because we both got spray tans and needed a foundation to match it and I needed to buy lashes. We came across the BEST beauty store called Riley Rose. They literally have all the brands that you see on Instagram that would usually be sold strictly online. I bought 2 pairs of the House of Lashes, the Winky Lux Flower Bomb in pink and grabbed a PopSocket for my phone. Figured it would help me not lose my phone at the festival. 😁

Since we didn’t eat at Sur, we ended Yelping a Mexican restaurant nearby. We ate at CaCao Mexicatessen. And let me tell you, I was not mad at all that we missed out on Sur because the food here was bomb af! The menu was described so well, that it made me order vegetarian food and I love my meat..haha. I love my girl Kenz for always being down to share food together..haha. So, I ordered the Potato Taco and Deep Fried Avocado Sope with a Michelada and she ordered the Salsa Verde Enchiladas with a Mango Margarita. Everything was MmmHmmm!

We made it to Palm Desert around 10pm and we stayed a the Desert Breezes Resort. It was nice, close to the festival and it had 3 pools (Um yasss!). I found our room through a closed Facebook group called “Coachella Music and Arts Festival California 2018”. Everyone on there was either going Weekend 1 or 2. It’s a great way to meet and talk to people who were attending as well. I was surprised to how many people were actually going by themselves, like, more power to you! As you know, getting a place to stay out there during Coachella weekend is expensive AF. Luckily, I found a group of people who got a huge suite and needed another person to take the other room. I got a good vibe, the price was good, so I booked it back in February and called it a day. We officially met our roomies for the weekend that night and they were all so cool and so much fun. We actually hung out a lot over the weekend and ended up making some new friends. ❤

Day 1

During the day we stopped by Wal-Mart to get some food, liquor, and some blankets. I was also looking to buy a jacket because it was really cold the night before and I only brought a sweater. I thought it was going to be hot the entire the time. Wrong!

We finally started getting ready. I did have an idea of what I wanted to wear each day, but my outfits were finalized until the day of. The first day I wanted to wear all black and came up with the below. Items are tagged below.

I finally got to see The Weeknd!! He is the artist I’ve been wanted to see for the longest time, but never got the chance to see. He was absolutely amazing and sounded so good performing live. I was enjoying his performance so much, I only got 1 snap in.

Day 3

On the third day, we were definitely moving a little slow. But, this day was Cardi B and she was performing at 5pm. Therefore, we had to get there earlier than the past couple days because we were not going to miss her! We said to ourselves we were going to be right in the front of the stage to see her. I love you Cardi, but it was just way too damn hot up in there. So, were watched her in the Beer Garden in the shade. By the time her performance was over, I was extremely happy to get my Shake Shack fix!

Coachella Tips

Do’s:

  • Do bring a bandana, cheap hat and cheap sunglasses (I ended up losing my hat and my sunglasses broke the 3rd day..lol)
  • Do wear comfortable shoes
  • Do wear fun and comfy clothes
  • Do go in on a locker with your friends. $55 for a Medium locker for the whole weekend. Bring a backpack and warmer clothes for the night to store in there. They will reimburse you $20 once you return your key on the 3rd day.
  • Do drink water and stay hydrated
  • Do wear deodorant (Not everyone got the memo there)
  • Do wear a fanny pack or belt bag (It’s efficient and convenient)
  • Do wear sunscreen
  • Do bring cash (You’ll have a better idea of how much you’re spending)
  • Do sneak in your own alcohol (Drinks are obviously pricey and most are premade bullshit. Also, you cannot walk around with your drink, only within the drinking 21+ areas)
  • Do buy a small plastic spray bottle to put water in. (It will feel amazing in the heat)
  • Do be prepared to walk a lot, like A LOT! (I think I lost 5 pounds that weekend)
  • Do have a “Meeting Spot” in case you or one of your friends get lost.
  • Do be safe and always watch your drink
  • Do have fun!

Don’ts:

  • Don’t wait the last min to find hotel and transportation accommodations. It will get very pricey closer to the date.
  • Don’t wear opened toed shoes. (You will get bumped into or stepped on)
  • Don’t push your limits. It’s a 3-day festival. Pace yourself.
  • Don’t be alarmed when you blow your nose the first night and black stuff comes out..haha (Hence wear your bandana)
  • Don’t get wasted too early, the heat won’t help your body during the day.
  • Don’t be afraid to roam around by yourself, you’ll be surprised who you meet.

Until next time babes!

xoxo

I <3 NOLA!

Hey Guys,

So, I just got back from New Orleans with my BFF’s/Roomies and we had the most amazing time ever! This was our first time there and I think we did it just right. Our flight was at 7am on a Saturday and I still wasn’t done packing when I woke up in the morning. We made it to SFO and we just had to start off with Bloody Mary’s with a double shot because the Birthday Girl (Bailey) was readddyyy..lol.

We were already drunk by the time we got on the plane (smh) and I’m sorry to those passengers around us that had to listen to our nonsense and loud laughs, but I definitely won’t forget a great moment like that (I’m all about the little things). But anywho, we had a layover in Dallas, TX and finally made it to New Orleans in the afternoon. From the MSY (NOLA Airport) it was about 20-25mins where we were staying. We stayed at an Airbnb in the French Quarter, which was so perfect because it was walking distance from everything major.

That night we strolled the famous Bourbon Street in our costumes. It reminded me of a more chill Vegas, but there was literally streets with endless bars back to back. There’s live music in every other bar. So many people walking in the middle of the street with drinks in hands, trying to figure out which bar they should check out next, including us. And my favorite costume of the night was, of course, a T-Rex.

IMG_2223FullSizeRender-1Most of the bars are free of charge, you might find 1 or 2 that might charge $5. I only remember two bars that were my absolute favorite, not because I was drunk all weekend but because I loved the atmosphere in both. I did like another one, but it didn’t have a name displayed anywhere. Therefore, I can now see why people who were trying to recommend places to go, couldn’t..haha. My favorite bar throughout the whole trip was Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop. Apparently, it was built in the early 1700’s and it’s reputed to be the oldest structure used as a bar in the United States. Also, the bar was pretty close to where we were staying, therefore we always ended up there before we headed back to our place.IMG_2328

On Sunday, we made our way to Brunch at Surrey’s Cafe. Hmmmm.IMG_2279

We were walking back towards the French Quarter and we saw the cutest tea spot named Tea Witch Cafe.IMG_2119After we got our energizing tea, we then heading to the pier to check out the Mississippi River.

And what was right next to it? The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk! Of course, we checked it out. We hit up Forever 21 to find a couple of pieces to finalize our Gypsy costumes for the night. We also stopped by the Boutique du Vampyre on the way back. The vampire lady there let us know this was the only vampire shop in the United States. She also let us know about this secret private lounge bar where you would need to say “The vampire sent us” in order to get in. So, you know we had to check that before our trip ended.

That’s all we had time for since we had to get back and start getting ready for the Voodoo Festival. This was the main night that we were going all out for our costumes. In my head, I planned on wearing a rose gold bralette and some beige jeweled sandals. I’m so glad I didn’t wear the sandals since it was a little muddy at the Voodoo Festival. In the end, I was so happy with the end result of my gypsy costume.

But OMG, even though it took forever to get in, we had the most amazing time at the Voodoo Festival!! We saw The Head and the Heart, The Killers, Dillon Francis and Miguel. The Killers were my fav by far, they were just too good. This was one of the best times of my life. But, it’s always a great time with my girls. ❤

The AFTERMATH! Because we really needed it..haha. I finished the whole damn thing! Checking out Port of Call in New Orleans is a must, especially when you’re fucked up. ^_^

IMG_2304

We were surprisingly okay the next morning. Well, after that burger and they did let me sleep in, while they went out and got beignets..hehe. I seriously have the best girlfriends! The beignets were from Cafe Du Monde and there was a party in my mouth. After we got ready for the day, we hit up Monty’s for brunch. I had the best fried chicken ever!

IMG_2170

After we stuffed our faces and grabbed our Hurricane to-go drinks, we headed to the pier to make our way to the Plantation and Swamp Tours. The Plantation tour was very interesting to see, but our tour guide was freaking me out because she reminded of the evil old lady in American Horror Story and it didn’t help that there were stories of the of the place being haunted. The Swamp Tour was a good experience, but given the time we went it was close to the end of the season, therefore, we only got to baby alligators and turtles..haha.

These two tours took all day and we didn’t get back until around 7pm. So of course, we were starving. With so many good restaurants around, we just walked until one caught our eye and the winner was Original Pierre Maspero’s. Bailey and I shared the Jambalaya plate and the seafood platter, which was so good. But, Diana’s Shrimp n Grits was fucking bomb there! We were hungry AF and that’s why I didn’t get a picture..oops, sorry guys! We ended up finding that Vampire Lounge and I had a good, strong ass absinthe drink. The spot is called Potions and I recommend checking it out as well. Our last night ended back at our place on the patio with wine, a cigar, beignets and singing Happy Birthday to Bae. ❤

Hurricane season is officially ova!

xoxo
